Steven Yard, 31, is charged with drug delivery resulting in death, involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment, and related offenses for the death of 39-year-old Mary Coyle, said Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub in a statement.

Officials say that on Nov. 16, 2021, Falls Township police were called to a Yardley Avenue home at 11:15 p.m. They arrived to find Coyle dead and Yard "actively overdosing" on the floor next to her, police claim.

Investigators say that Yard drove to Kensington in Philadelphia, bought 12 bags of "suspected heroin/fentanyl," and returned to the Yardley Avenue home to do the drugs with Coyle.

According to detectives, Yard woke up sometime later to find Coyle had suffered a fatal overdose. Police believe he rolled her over and began to perform CPR before doing "another bag of heroin" and hiding the drugs under the couch.

During a search of the home, officers said they found more "heroin/fentanyl," empty bags, and paraphernalia. They also claimed to find more baggies of drugs in the pocket of a bathrobe Coyle was wearing, the DA noted.

Her cause of death was officially ruled acute fentanyl intoxication at autopsy, officials added.

Yard was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jan Vislosky on Wednesday, Feb. 15, and released on $100,000 unsecured bail, court records show. He is due back in court on Feb. 28 for a preliminary hearing.
